KNOTS & GRAINS
FURNITURE MADE FROM RECLAIMED WOOD
First there is Alix. The craftsman and creator of every K&G item. He puts his heart and soul into every piece he makes and his love for creating something new out of things destined for the landfill is what fuels his passion for woodworking. He is also full of bad jokes and not afraid to share them around.
Then there is Claire. She is the organiser, the communications, the person to talk to for things to get rolling. She also gets stuck in at the workshop, sanding, painting and finding all the lost tape measures. She loves the sustainability of using reclaimed wood, and is always on the look out for more ways to reuse and recycle. If you bring her a coffee, she will love you forever.
Then the small apprentices, Nate, Finn and Frankie. They are here for the snacks and the high-fives and we're okay with that.😉
We are a small family on the Gold Coast making our dreams a reality, one piece of furniture at a time.
After immigrating back to Australia from the Mother Land in Feburary 2014, and setting up home with his Aussie wife, Alix started making pieces of furniture to save money.
He used recycled materials, mainly pallets, and soon the house started filling up! Coffee tables, shoe and coat racks, kitchen islands, baby change table, more coffee tables! We soon realised we didn't just enjoy this past time, we LOVED it! From there Knots and Grains was born, to move these beautiful pieces of a loved hobby out of our living room and into the world.
Knots and Grains aims to bring unique, one of a kind pieces using as many recycled and reclaimed materials as possible.
